Respiratory physiology encompasses the mechanical processes of ventilation, the diffusion of gases across membranes, the transport of oxygen and carbon dioxide in blood, and the neural and chemical regulation of breathing. Understanding these principles is essential for recognizing and managing respiratory disorders in clinical practice.
The course will cover the following topics:
Topic-1- Hematocrit, Specific gravity of blood, Erythrocyte Sedimentation rate, Osmotic fragility of RBCs
Topic-2- Hemoglobin
Topic-3-Formation of RBCs
Topic-4- Anaemias
Topic-5- Jaundice
Topic-6- Blood group
Course objectives:
Describe and discuss the various properties of blood Hematocrit, Specific gravity of blood, Erythrocyte Sedimentation rate, Osmotic fragility of RBCs,
Structure of Hemoglobin
Mechanism of formation of RBCs (Erythropoiesis)
Various types of Anemias
Blood group
Course outcome:
It is a blended learning course consisting of core videos of short duration on the topics given and supplementary materials in the form of video and text materials. Discussion forum and assignments will be given to enhance and grade the knowledge of the learner.
At the end of course learner is expected to grasp the concept effectively and able to reproduce it.
Assessments:
Assessments will be in the form of quiz, MCQs and short answer forms
